O.J. Simpson went on trial for the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman on Nov. 9, 1994, as millions tuned in to see the disgraced football hero beat the rap on stabbing his ex-wife and the young man who stumbled upon the killer in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles. The story of O.J. Simpson's trial is now covered on "American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson" — but The National ENQUIRER was there from the start to uncover the most bizarre moments!

O.J. SIMPSON: Things were already bad for O.J. — but got worse during the trial when The ENQUIRER caught his first wife Marquerite lying when she claimed the football star never beat her. That was the conclusion of lie-detection expert Charles R. McQuiston, who measured the levels of stress in an interview she gave on ABC's "20/20." "Marquerite Simpson Thomas is not telling the truth when she denies the physical abuse she suffered during their marriage," declared McQuiston.
PAULA BARBIERI: O.J.'s then-fiancée risked his wrath after The ENQUIRER exposed a shocking tape of the brunette beauty using the "N" word and other racial slurs — while talking about hanging black people up by their private parts over alligator-infested swamps! "When O.J. heard about the tape, he called Paula and went ballistic!" an insider disclosed. "He was calm at first because he wasn't sure it was true - until Paula admitted she did make the statements back in 1987, before she met O.J.!"

A.C. COWLINGS: O.J.'s pal was behind the wheel when the football hero took off in a Ford Bronco with police in pursuit. Then The ENQUIRER's Mike Walker caught him pursuing cash! Mike reported on how Cowlings (seen here in his mug shot) had turned up his nose at doing the talk-show circuit — but then made plans to quietly cash in on his O.J. connection to the tune of $11 MILLION!! He signed a contract for that amount to dish the inside scoop to SImpson fans on a "900" line at a cost of $3.99 per minute!
CHRISTOPHER DARDEN: The prosecutor looked good on television, but grieving Fred Goldman — father of Ron — was outraged when he learned Darden and fellow prosecutor Marcia Clark had already negotiated book deals to profit from his son's murder. "Fred told [Los Angeles District Attorney Gil] Garcetti, 'How can they look at the death photos of Ron and Nicole day after day in the courtroom and then turn around and sell their story to the highest bidder?'" an insider revealed.

MARCIA CLARK: The prosecutor had her own personal problems during the trial, with The ENQUIRER revealing that her estranged husband was using her heavy workload to charge her with neglecting her boys! Gordon Clark had also asked Marcia for child support! "He's decided to hit me where it hurts the most at a time when he knows I'm the most vulnerable," Marcia told a source. "It's a sneaky, underhanded thing to do! What a rat!"

RON FUHRMAN: The prosecution suffered a major blow when shocking tapes of Detective Mark Fuhrman being interviewed by a screenwriter revealed a man who viciously insulted women and blacks — and boasted of beating suspects to a bloody pulp. The ENQUIRER found the tapes that were made between 1985 and 1994 by Laura Hart McKinny while collaborating with Fuhrman on a script, as the cop said (among other things): "If a ni--er is driving a Porsche and doesn't have on an expensive suit, stop him because he's probably stolen the car!"

KATO KAELIN: O.J.'s housemate was an aspiring actor — but he couldn't get past Chuck Norris! Mike Walker revealed how producers had lined up Kato for a guest role on Chuck's hit series "Walker, Texas Ranger" — but when Chuck got the news, he told the execs he wouldn't show up for taping if Kato appeared on an episode. Nothing personal, said Chuck. The television star just didn't want to be a part of any attempt to capitalize on the murders of two innocent people.
F. LEE BAILEY: The famed attorney was part of O.J.'s defense — but Mike Walker had the story when the lawyer got into his own criminal case on O.J.'s estate! Bailey was being driven onto the grounds by a blonde companion when their Jaguar banged into TV newscaster David Horowitz of L.A. station KCBS, who was doing a live broadcast on the street outside. The reporter said Bailey motioned for the driver to keep going.Police say an estate guard told them the blonde is Bailey's "administrative assistant" — but cops discovered the Jaguar was registered to Mary Leonard, who lived in the same building as Bailey!

FAYE RESNICK: The ENQUIRER talked to friends who confirmed O.J. was "very upset" by the revelation — first reported in STAR magazine — that Nicole Brown Simpson had a brief lesbian affair with her good friend (and former cocaine addict) Faye Resnick. She later confessed in her tell-all book that she and Nicole enjoyed "a night of girlish passion" in May 1994 — just one month before the grisly killings. Simpson "cried like a baby" during an emotional phone call in which he quizzed Kris Jenner about his ex-wife's hidden love life.
KRIS JENNER: The future reality-show maven first made The ENQUIRER when her husband — attorney Robert Kardashian — joined O.J.'s defense team. In addition to comforting old friend O.J. over Nicole's lesbian affair, Kris (pictured here with O.J. and her ex Bruce Jenner) also got coverage when a sicko threatened to kidnap her husband and/or his 8-year-old son during the trial. The attorney brought in extra security to protect himself, his wife, and all of their children — including young Kourtney and Kim!
