“It was breast cancer,” Mindy revealed — adding that she's now cancer-free, but only after a long battle: “It kept spreading and coming back....I was frustrated and enraged. I couldn’t control any of this. I couldn’t fix it.”

Tragically, Mindy has come forward just months after her costar
Charlotte Rae — who spent seven seasons as Edna Garrett on "The Facts of Life" — announced
her own battle with bone cancer at the age of 91. Mindy, meanwhile, is eager to return to work. "I think I’m a good actress," she told
People, "and I have a lot to offer!"
