Loretta Swit shocked fans as the former "Hot Lips" Houlihan showed off her bizarre new lips — when the former
"M*A*S*H" star went political in a campaign ad out to keep
Donald Trump from being inaugurated as the President!
Instead of rising to become one of TV’s biggest stars when "M*A*S*H" ended in 1983, Loretta's career mysteriously fizzled — and she eventually quit the acting biz in 1998. Loretta was very believable as a sultry blonde sexpot on the long-running CBS sitcom. But she never got over losing a lead role on the TV cop drama “Cagney & Lacey” while she was still starring in “M*A*S*H.”
“She played Sgt. Christine Cagney in the original TV movie, but producers wouldn’t let her out of her 'M*A*S*H' contract for the final season,” said an insider. “She was heartbroken. I think she’ll admit that soured her on Hollywood.” Sadly, the end of "M*A*S*H" also marked the start of a disappointing marriage that left the former star (seen here earlier in 2016) embittered.

Loretta married actor Dennis Holahan in 1983 — but by 1989, the romance was over! Dennis demanded alimony from an outraged Loretta, who was then earning an estimated $3 million annually. She was “rip-roaring mad” and vowed to fight him tooth and nail, said a pal — adding that Loretta complained: “He spent my money like water!”

Her time away from the cameras meant that many old fans weren't prepared for Loretta's new look — and the commentswere scathing! it didn't help that Loretta's old costar Mike Farrell also appeared in the ad while looking his age. "Why should we trust Loretta about choosing the president," said one commenter, "when she can't even be trusted with choosing a plastic surgeon?"
But the good news is that Loretta later softened her looks — looking slightly more like herself by Nov. 2017, when she made an appearance at The Hollywood Museum to promote her book "Switheart." The longtime animal activist also toned down the politics while concentrating on selling the published collection of her watercolor paintings.
