Kathie Lee Gifford started her career as a wholesome ’70s singer — but her Christian upbringing included a romance with a future abortion-clinic bomber! As her former high-school sweetheart, Rev. Michael Bray could have been a mere footnote in Kathie Lee’s career. Instead, he’s achieved infamy as part of a group that the FBI considers to be a terrorist organization. In fact, Bray became an acclaimed leader of the Army of God after serving four years in prison for bombing abortion clinics..

Fortunately, no one was injured in the fiery explosions that had Bray sentenced to a 46-month prison sentence in 1985. Bray still endorses violence, however. He even penned a tirade called "Rejoicing in the Death of the Wicked" after the 2009 murder of Dr. George Tiller by anti-abortionist activist Scott Roeder. Bray (seen here with his wife Jayne) also told
The National ENQUIRER that he has plenty of praise for Kathie Lee!

"I'll never forget the moment I first saw her," recalled Bray, who attended Bowie High School in Maryland with the future "Live" and
"Today Show" star. "She was walking down the hallway and I thought: 'What a beauty!'...She was the cheerleader. I was on the wrestling team. We went to the prom together."

The two, however, remained pen pals for a while. Kathie Lee went
on to fame and fortune, including making the best-seller list with a series of inspirational books. Bray's work with the Army of God keeps him linked to the FBI's list of terrorist organizations — especially as he keeps promoting his book "A Time To Kill" on the Army of God website.

“I have obviously laid out a case why it’s justifiable to defend the innocent," Bray's explained, "and in the course of doing so, you can do harm to the one who is killing someone else.” But the preacher has much kinder words for Kathie Lee. He said that "he doesn't watch much TV," but has "fond memories of her. I wish her all the best."
