Jim Carrey Wants Protective Order In Wrongful Death Lawsuit

Jim Carrey has gone to court to ask for a protective order in a wrongful death lawsuit over his dead ex-girlfriend — on the same day that he was set for a court deposition about Cathriona White's suicide!

Cathriona — who died from an overdose of pills in Sept. 2015 — is the subject of two wrongful death lawsuits filed against Carrey. Both her estranged husband and her grieving mother are alleging that Cathriona committed suicide using pharmaceuticals obtained by the comic.

The lawsuits also claim that Cathriona was distraught over Carrey giving her three sexually-transmitted diseases. In one of Cathriona's alleged final letters to Carrey, she wrote: "You gave me HSV and HPV, I want you to apologize for it because you care enough to."

The Daily Mail reports that the new protective order will allow Carrey and his attorneys to go over any discovery material in the lawsuits for five days before anything is released to the public. That includes notes by Cathriona's psychiatrist, which Carrey now claims to be "inaccurate" — contesting claims that he gave Cathriona herpes, and that she was "very afraid of [Carrey] and his temper."
