Recent photos show the veteran "Days of Our Lives" actor — who has battled heart issues — looking haggard and feeble. “The last time Jen saw him, she was shocked at how frail he looked,” said a source. “A lot of John’s loved ones, including Jen, are begging him to retire, but he won’t hear of it...Jen’s worried it’s going to kill him.”

The 6'3" actor, who has played mobster Victor Kiriakis on the daytime drama since 1986, suffered a massive heart attack in 2006. “Jen has been on tenterhooks ever since, fearing for his health,” said the insider.

John, however, has refused to slow down. After the show was picked up for a 54th season recently, added the insider, he even boasted that he'd “be an actor until the day he dies.” John lives two hours outside of L.A., as well, so Jen “can’t be checking in on him every day.”

the late Nancy Dow (pictured), who he divorced in 1980. She was estranged from her actress mom almost until her death from stroke complications in 2016 at 79. Jen’s relationship with stepbrother A.J. and stepmom Sherry is also reportedly cool.

Justin Theroux, but insiders said Nancy's death has the actress determined to do better by her dad. “Everyone knows she hasn’t always been close with her father,” said the source. “but she has his best interests at heart — especially after losing her mom!”
