Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux began their couples counseling even before they were married in 2015 — with friends revealing the intimate secrets that kept the stars in therapy!

"There were so many differences from the beginning," said a source. "They communicated in different ways, had different lifestyles, and constantly fought over living in New York City or Los Angeles." Jen was also quick to keep up the counseling after Justin accepted several acting offers after wrapping up his HBO show "The Leftovers" in 2016 — surprising her by increasing his workload.

“Jen has basically felt single for almost a year now,” said an insider at the time. “This isn’t how she pictured married life at all.” Her husband's constant traveling also had the jealous star arguing with Justin about women like his ex-love Heidi Bivens. The couple also had to work through Justin's feud with a neighbor in NYC — which made Jen more determined to keep them together in California.

"Part of the therapy," said the source, "was to help them stay on track as a couple, because Justin got so distracted about the things outside of their relationship." That included lawsuits over the death of Carmen Musgrove, after the personal assistant to movie producer and wedding guest Joel Silver drowned in a lagoon as part of their honeymoon entourage in 2015.

Sources also reported that Jen was hit hard by "baby envy" as her showbiz pals kept having kids. Friends said that she turned to "jealousy therapy" to help overcome it. "Jen thought she'd come to terms with it and was focusing on having fun with Justin and her work," said an insider before the wedding. "But right now, it feels like everyone's having babies but her."

Some problems, however, were more mundane. That includes Jennifer revealing that her sex life with Justin had gone to the dogs over her pampered pooches. She had her three dogs — Clyde, Dolly and Sophie — sharing the bed with her and Justin in their Bel Air home. "They have to sneak off to bed early and hope the dogs don't notice," shared a pal, "but everything ends up rushed!"

The couple also had to talk about their differences when it came to Jennifer's retail therapy! "Jennifer is a compulsive shopper," revealed a close source, "but Justin hates wasting money. He doesn't mind when Jen buys a new outfit for a publicity tour or appearance, but it annoys him to no end when she blows big bucks on stuff she doesn't need — or already has!"
