40th Annual Songwriters Hall of Fame Ceremony – Cocktails and Backstage
Legendary singer Tom Jones is in mourning after his long-suffering wife died after a short cancer battle! Linda Jones — who became Lady Melinda Rose Woodward after Sir Tom was knighted in 2006 — passed away on Sunday in Los Angeles with her husband of 59 years at her side. Linda was a heavy smoker who had suffered two earlier cancer battles, as Tom revealed in his 2015 autobiography. She also suffered silently as her husband enjoyed multiple affairs during their 59-year-marriage!

Tom Jones And Wife
Tom — who's spent decades as both a singing star and sex symbol — was also a pioneer in having an open showbiz marriage. Fans were shocked as the singer (seen here with Linda in 1965) was often caught out in the company of beautiful women who weren't his wife.

Tom Jones
The star still constantly boasted of his "rock-solid" marriage. Tom didn't slow down his extramarital affairs as his career continued into the 1980s, either . It didn't matter that his son, Mark, had come along on tours for several years — and began serving as his manager in 1986!

The Jones’ Move House
Linda was eight months pregnant when the couple was married in March 1957. She was 16 years old, and the future superstar was only 17. The happy family is seen here in a 1967 publicity shot as they move into their new home in the English countryside outside of London.

CANNES 99: ANJELICA HUSTON PARTY
Tom would later boast of having once had sex with 250 women in a single year, and famously had a two-year affair with Mary Wilson of The Supremes. Linda never complained publicly or sought a divorce — but her husband confessed that she sometimes raged over his affairs in private. "Oh yeah!," he once said. "She's actually thrown things at me!"

Tom Jones
Tom was also upfront about the state of his marriage — once saying: "We're not sexually like we were, but we are still in tune with one another. We can still have fun. We still talk. She's still the Welsh girl I married." Fans were outraged, however, after Tom publicly disrespected Linda in 2015, complaining that she had "lost her spark!"

Germany – “Wetten Dass?” TV Show in Stuttgart
Tom was still at his wife's side when she died. He had canceled a concert appearance earlier this month in The Philippines. His management sent out a statement on Linda's death, saying: "Surrounded by her husband and loved ones, [Linda] passed away peacefully at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles."

Fans who've followed Tom's recent career will also recall that the singer had recorded a public apology of sorts to Linda. His album "24 Hours" was released in 2008, and featured a song called "The Road" — about a wandering spirit who always returned home to his faithful love.
