Gretchen Wilson, who won a Grammy while taking over the country charts with her hit “Redneck Woman,” was busted in Connecticut on Aug. 21 over brawling on a plane — but is now off the hook after agreeing to donate $500 to charity! The former country star was accused by State Troopers of causing a “minor disturbance” while arguing with a fellow passenger. The police report added that she was also belligerent “toward officers.” The singer was flying in to perform for a private audience at the Mohegan Sun casino resort. But now a misdemeanor charge of breaching the peace is set to be dismissed after Gretchen’s donation to a fund for crime victims. Sadly, the arrest was still just the latest setback in a downward spiral for the struggling star, who’s been attempting to make a comeback over the past decade after originally beating the bottle…

Gretchen (seen here in her recnt mugshot) was upfront about her own rough upbringing when she beat the odds to top the charts in 2005 with her hit album "Here for the Party" in 2005. She recalled growing up with an alcoholic mother, saying: "There were times I had to go get her at the tavern. She wasn't capable of driving herself home." The high-school dropout added: "I definitely went through stages in my life where I drank way too much."

"I think we are born alcoholics," Gretchen added, back when she seemed set to become one of country's biggest stars. Sadly, her hot streak ended when 2007's "One of the Boys" bombed spectacularly. She was soon dropped by her label, and later admitted she'd mortgaged her home to release her "I Got Your Country Right Here" album.

Sadly, the success of the 2009 single "Work Hard, Play Harder" was marred by a plagiarism suit filed by Black Crowes members Chris and Rich Robinson, who were later credited as co-writers. Gretchen has still sold over 8 million records worldwide, and was able to meet the original bond set at $1,000 after her arrest.
