Gregg Allman: His Deathbed Visit With Ex-Wife Cher

Cher was facing even more heartbreak as her ex-husband Gregg Allman  was preparing for death in late April! The longtime leader of The Allman Brothers Band had reportedly entered hospice after cancelling all of his concerts in late 2016. In August, an ailing Cher reached out to her frail ex, who had undergone both a liver transplant and lung surgery after years of drinking and drugs.

"She wanted to be sure she is there for him before he passes," author Ian Halperin told The National ENQUIRER. Gregg kept insisting that he'd return to the stage when he was "feeling really good," but The ENQUIRER had the scoop as the Allman Brothers star prepared to face his final days with a minimum of suffering. The world was shocked when the pop diva abruptly married Gregg in 1975, just three days after her divorce from Sonny Bono— and then tried to end the marriage just nine days later!

"She filed for divorce," said Halperin, "then went back to him only so they could have a kid." The couple finally split for good in 1979. Sadly, Cher is currently estranged from their son Elijah Blue Allman. She kicked their son out of her Malibu mansion over his 2014 wedding to Angie King — later declaring on social media: "Family fights are bad...Ours was horrible!"
