Daniel Gilroy, a former police officer, worked with Mateen at GS4, and revealed that he complained frequently to his superiors about his co-worker's racist and homophobic rantings. “I quit because everything he said was toxic, and the company wouldn’t do anything. This guy was unhinged and unstable. He talked of killing people," said Gilroy — who added that he believed GS4 was reluctant to fire Mateen because of his Mulsim faith.

The killer lived in the Florida city of Fort St. Lucie, and his father — Seddique Mateen — said that he had been angered earlier in the year at the sight of two men kissing in Miami. Seddique told NBC News that the killings had "nothing to do with religion." In truth, however, Mateen may have learned all about hating gays from his dad's own Islamic extremist views!

The National ENQUIRER caught Seddique (who lives in this Ft. Pierce, Fla., home) saying that the biggest problem with his son committing mass murder was that “God himself will punish those involved in homosexuality.” While his son was born in America, Seddique has stayed close to his Afghanistan roots — and he's praised the oppressive Taliban forces who are terrorizing the Middle East.

Tragically, Mateen may have inherited delusions of grandeur from his father that fueled his murderous attack on innocent nightclub patrons. Seddique often posts rambling videos where he fancies himself as the President of Afghanistan giving orders to his followers. His former daughter-in-law says that she believes Mateen also suffered from mental illness.

The woman who survived being married to Mateen also disagrees with Seddique's fond memory of "a good son and an educated son." Sitora Yusufiy fled her husband in 2009, and was later divorced. FBI agents talked to her the day after the massacre, but she revealed that no one had consulted with her during the agency's earlier investigations. She would have been able to provide intimate info on a man she said "hurt me and traumatized me.”

Sitora had met Mateen in 2008 via social media, and the couple were quickly married — but the terrified woman escaped the next year after repeated beatings. They were divorced in 2011. Sitora added that Mateen had kept her locked away in their Florida home, and would take possession of her paychecks to control her freedom.

Sitora recalled how Mateen had grabbed her while she was attempting to get into a car with her parents, who had driven down to Florida from New Jersey to help her escape. “He tried to reach in his back pocket, I don’t know if he had a gun with him, but my mother felt that, and she screamed out. That was the last time I saw him.”

Mateen's ex-wife added that he was openly homophobic: “There were definitely moments when he’d express his intolerance towards homosexuals." Sadly, the cruel killer had to murder 50 innocents — and die in the resulting police raid — to find acceptance from the evil terrorists that he admired. ISIS has released a statement full of praise for "brother Omar Mateen, one of the soldiers of the Caliphate in America."
