Elton John is giving up touring at 70 years old — after being forced to cancel shows throughout 2017 while battling a mystery illness!

The aging rock star announced his final world tour after barely surviving a vicious viral infection in 2017. He was rushed to a hospital after becoming stricken while flying back to Britain after an April concert in Chile — with his husband, David Furnish, saying that it left him and their adopted children “very frightened.”

Just weeks later, Elton announced that he was canceling a series of shows at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas — with an insider telling The National ENQUIRER that he had been left “bedridden at home” after spending two nights under observation.

“I am extremely grateful to the medical team for their excellence in looking after me so well,” Elton later told fans — but he continued to keep quiet about the exact nature of the "bacterial infection" that ravaged his health. The ordeal still came after Elton had already hinted at this year's big announcement!

“You’re only as old as you feel inside,” Elton said in 2017, just weeks before the health scare — adding: “There are days when I am not feeling as physically good as I could...There will come a time when I will want to stop touring. Maybe I want to have more time with my boys.”
