Despite staying behind the gates of her mansion at Carmel-By-The-Sea, Calif., close pals say the screen legend is still full of life! “Ms. Day, like a lot of folks in their 90s, requires walking assistance,” the insider told The ENQUIRER, adding Doris still suffers the aftereffects of a car crash that ended her dancing career as a teen. The source added: “She doesn’t even wear reading glasses when reading the newspaper!”

Doris herself seemed to look back at her own hit song with "Que Sera, Sera" in an interview after what she thought was her 92nd birthday. “You have to stay positive," said the screen legend. “Whatever will happen, will happen. I’m lucky. I’ve been blessed with good health.” And, of course, the longtime animal activist noted that she also stayed in good shape by running after her dogs.

Today, Doris remains devoted to the memories of the men she loved and lost — including “Pillow Talk” co-star Rock Hudson, and her late son, Terry Melcher. She lives quietly in Carmel after selling the Beverly Hills mansion she once shared with late hubby/manager Marty Melcher. “That home was occupied by Doris’ son, Terry, at the time of his death in 2004,” says the source. “By then, Ms. Day permanently resided in Carmel.”

Doris took news of her real age in stride, saying: "I've always said that age is just a number, and I have never paid much attention to birthdays — but it's great to finally know how old I really am!" She added that the news provides a twist to celebrating her birthdays with Betty White, who turned 96 in January: "They are actually just a couple months apart, and turns out it's an even bigger exciting landmark than we thought!"
