The National ENQUIRER had the scoop ten months before David passed away at the age of 67 in Nov. 2017. Now a new A&E documentary, “David Cassidy: the Last Sessions,” captures

David had previously blamed arthritis for having to retire, as well — but insiders say that the faded pop star's real problem was a serious case of self-hatred!
"David hated the fans," said one insider, "and constantly sabotaged his own career by getting drunk and mocking the people who came to see him. He couldn't even make money at conventions, because he refused to sign Partridge Family merchandise!"

The ENQUIRER was there when
Cassidy put on a typical sad display in 2012 — appearing in Las Vegas at what was supposed to be a tribute to
Davy Jones of the Monkees. “David forgot the words to songs and even scolded the audience,” said one eyewitness, “People began booing, and at one point, David started playing drums and lost one of the drumsticks!”

David also endured the public embarrassment
of a series of DUI arrests — with the star always insisting that he was getting his life together. In the end, though, David disgraced his family heritage. The stepson of
Shirley Jones said that he was suffering the same health crisis as his actress mom Evelyn Ward, declaring: “A part of me always knew this was coming.”

The new documentary includes David's former costar
Danny Bonaduce showing sympathy for the star, saying: “Part of alcoholism is lying.” His disappointed fans, however, will likely agree that Shirley Jones had it right when talking about her troubled stepson's troubles, saying: “David has his charm, but also his dark side!”
