The "This is Us" star makes the shocking confession in her new book, "This is Me,"as she admits that the ENQUIRER exclusive helped her understand that she had to "focus on letting go of someone" before forgiving them. But that's no comfort to retired Naval officer Mark Metz, who disputed Chrissy’s story that he walked out when she was just eight years old.

In earlier interviews, Chrissy had thrown her father under the bus, saying, “There was a lot of resentment toward him about leaving, and how do you leave your children?” But according to Mark, Chrissy — who plays Kate Pearson on the hit NBC series — “never” reached out to him: “I’ve called her, left voicemail messages and contacted her on Facebook.”

In her book, Chrissy says that the ENQUIRER article helped her come to peace with not being in touch with her father — because he "never once said he was sorry, because he obviously doesn't feel like he did anything wrong."

"I don't have to be in a relationship with him," she writes. "I can't meet him where he is, but I can also move forward." Mark, meanwhile, insists: “Did I abandon her? No! I didn’t abandon anybody!”
