The bodyguard, Martin Kirsten, broke into Cornell's hotel room, and then had to have hotel staff open the bathroom door — where the singer was found on the floor "with blood running from his mouth" and "a red exercise band" around his neck.

Vicky reportedly still believes that her husband ultimately died from the side effects of an anxiety medicine that Cornell had been taking — and wrote in a public letter: "I will fight for you!"
