Celine Dion Breaks Down Onstage In Las Vegas

Céline Dion returned to her Las Vegas residency for the first time after the death of her longtime husband and manager René Angélil — and The National ENQUIRER was there as the mourning songstress broke down in tears during her rendition of "All By Myself."

Céline received a standing ovation from a packed audience at the Colosseum in Caesars Palace while she struggled to finish her hit cover of the classic '70s tune by Eric Carmen. It wasn't the only time that evening when Céline seemed overwhelmed by her return to performing.

René passed away on January 14, 2016, after a long illness. Céline had already updated her Las Vegas show to become an intimate tribute to the man she married 20 years ago — and who she described as “the only boyfriend I’ve ever had.”

The grieving star spent hours at René's memorial ceremonies personally greeting friends and fans who came to pay their respects. Her longtime venue at Caesar's Palace even installed a sculpted replica of René's hand to continue the deceased manager's tradition of pre-show handshakes.

A message from Céline appeared on a screen at the start of the show, reading: "I understood that my career was in a way his masterpiece, his song, his symphony. The idea of leaving it unfinished would have hurt him terribly. I realised that if he ever left us, I would have to continue without him, for him."

Despite the night's emotional toll, Céline still made it through the first night of her Las Vegas return. The concert closed with a photo of Celine hugging René tightly as the residency goes on and on.
