Bob Newhart made it out to a Hollywood restaurant to celebrate his 89th birthday with pals and loved ones — but friends fear that the night was actually his secret goodbye! The beloved comic was celebrating his second birthday without dear friend Don Rickles in attendance. The TV legend has also outlived his co-stars Suzanne Pleshette, Marcia Wallace and Tom Poston. In another tragic twist, Bob was celebrating his Sept. 5 birthday one day early, as his longtime friend Bill Daily passed away in New Mexico. Bob looked like a shadow of his former self as the struggling star left the eatery afterwards, ruefully commenting on having outlived so many of his fellow stars. “I was the biggest one here,” he said. “That shows you something!”

“Bob looks like he’s counting the days to his final stand-up,” said one eyewitness, noting the comic's alarmingly “gaunt” appearance. Insiders are also reportedly alarmed that Bob has become increasingly morbid. In a recent appearance on
Conan O'Brien's talk show, Bob recalled an early stand-up gig where “I died. Not even a snicker.” He then added, with a wink: “There isn’t a stand-up in the world who hasn’t died!”

Longtime pals are also concerned that Bob has finally quit booking live shows. And despite having found new fans over the decades, the Emmy-winner from
"The Big Bang Theory" recently declared that he was done with Hollywood. “It belongs to the young people,” Bob said, adding: “I had an incredible career.”
