Ensa (at left, with sisters Erika and Evin) died of renal failure at the age of 44, just one month before her father's upcoming retrial on rape charges. “I strongly believe my father is innocent of the crimes that are alleged against him," she declared — but an insider told The National ENQUIRER that Ensa was really protecting her's family secrets.

The source — who passed an independently administered polygraph examination — reported that Ensa had confided her shocking family secret about her father assaulting her nanny around 1997 — the same year that her 27-year-old brother, Ennis, was murdered in an apparent robbery gone wrong in Los Angeles. “Ensa said it was an unwanted sexual advance, and [the nanny] was hysterical,” reported the insider.

The assault even reportedly left the nanny so traumatized that “she had to leave” the Cosbys’ multimillion dollar mansion — with his wife Camille agreeing to "compensate" the victim. “It upset the whole family,” the insider continued. “Ensa described how they all really loved her, and when she found out why the woman had left, she was very upset at her father because she’d never known the real reason.”

Ensa (inset, guesting on "The Cosby Show") also said Camille helped her face more horrific truths about her father — as multiple women came forward to blast Cosby's decades of sexual assaults. "As Ensa grew older," said the source, "her mother actually sat her down and told her about the affairs that her father had. Ensa came to the realization that her father was not the wonderful family man that he portrayed in public."

The insider alleged that Ensa — who had sought treatment for substance abuse — spoke of accepting that her father was a "nasty, belligerent" man who bullied her entire family in a dysfunctional house of horrors. And, added the source, Ensa couldn't fully believe in her father's innocence: "Because of all the affairs and the incident with the nanny, she did wonder!"
