Shortly after the Sept. 2017 show, insiders had told The National ENQUIRER that a new health crisis was behind the R&B legend's recent weight loss of a staggering 200 pounds — but Aretha told a source for The ENQUIRER: “That’s ludicrous!”

Instead, the  "Respect" singer said she'd shed “60 pounds — 30 of which I want to get back.” Aretha had still gone public with plans to retire, however, and the Boston date planned for June marked the third show she'd canceled as part of a planned farewell tour.

Aretha has still been insisting that she'd continue to perform, and even had hopes of opening her own club in Detroit where she'd perform without the rigors of touring.
