Sex Addict Anthony Weiner Checks Into Rehab

Anthony Weiner checked himself into a sex addiction rehab facility — one that forbids the use of cell phones! The disgraced politician has been at the center of numerous sexting scandals over the last few years, but his most recent misstep has dented his career the hardest. After Weiner was discovered to be allegedly sending explicit images to a 15-year-old girl, the FBI opened an investigation into Weiner in September. This probe, however soon led a key finding that coincided with a renewed investigation into Hillary Clinton’s shocking email scandal.

Weiner, who is now separated from Hillary's very close aide Huma Abedin, caused a stir when, during the investigation into the former congressman’s sexting scandal, the FBI found emails on a device connected to the Weiner probe. FBI director James Comey wrote that the emails could be "pertinent to our investigation" into Hillary’s use of a private email server during her disastrous stint as Secretary of State.

The embattled Weiner has now checked himself into a rehab facility that “separates men and women, and its program includes counseling for those addicted to cybersex and exhibitionism, as well as addictions to anonymous sex and porn,” the Daily Mail reported. The unnamed facility also prohibits the use of electronic devices.

So what will life look like for Weiner inside the rehabilitation center? “He’ll likely start with one-on-one therapy to examine how his serial sexting has impacted his life,” Jonathan Alpert, a Manhattan-based psychotherapist said, according to the Daily News.

The program will likely involve family therapy which would bring Huma and their child into the mix. Alpert also said “relapse prevention” would be a key part of the therapy, teaching Weiner to avoid triggers. “You would teach them how to identify triggers, and then how to avoid these triggers,” Alpert said. “So, for example, with devices — maybe blocking access to certain sites [and] having a support system in place.”
