Max Wright, who soared to fame in the late 1980s with “
ALF,” TV’s favorite space alien, today is
ravaged from alcoholism and a past that included crack-fueled orgies with homeless men!

Sadly, Max is looking more and more like the wild-haired space case he played opposite for four years — a good decade older than his 74 years.

In a world exclusive,
The National ENQUIRER snapped these tragic photos of the actor, now a pitiful shut-in who spends his lonely days watching TV and smoking on the balcony of his grimy crash pad in Hermosa Beach, near Los Angeles.

“Max has become a shadow of his former self,” a source spilled. “It’s sad what’s happened.” Millions remember Max as hilariously uptight Willie Tanner, the exasperated host to a Muppet-like space alien.
The family friendly show ended in 1990, and Max’s life soon spiraled out of control. Five years later he was diagnosed with lymphoma. Nine years after that, a former gay lover said he and Max used to pick up homeless men twice a week and pay them $100 for sex.

Often they’d all do drugs together. As The ENQUIRER reported, Max even appeared in a shocking homemade gay porno tape with two men, smoking crack. He was arrested for drunk driving in 2003 and hasn’t worked in film or TV since 2005. “He’s pretty much an outcast,” said the source.
