Adam West: ‘Boy Wonder’ Burt Ward Reveals Star’s Final Days

Beloved “Batman” star Adam West “had no idea he was going to die,” the Caped Crusader’s co-star Burt Ward told The National ENQUIRER in a world exclusive interview following Adam’s untimely demise.

“Adam had no idea he was so sick,” Burt — who remained a close friend after playing Robin the Boy Wonder — told The ENQUIRER just days after Adam's death at age 88 on June 9 following a brief battle with leukemia. “Last time I saw him, which was just a few weeks ago, he was in great shape!

“We were signing autographs at this Hollywood show, and we walked from the restaurant after breakfast. I could hardly keep up with him! He felt great, and was as sharp as a razor!” According to their mutual agent, Adam thought he’d developed altitude sickness due to flying, and was going to the hospital for tests, Burt said.

“Adam also told our agent, ‘Book me in London because I’m going to Europe to visit my wife’s family, and I’d like to make some dough while I’m there,’” Burt recalled. “After he went to the hospital, his wife texted our agent and said Adam had a higher than normal white blood-cell count, and doctors thought it was leukemia.

“But they told Adam he could expect to live at least three to five years more, if not longer, and sent him home! In my heart of hearts, I believe Adam had no idea he was going to die!” Burt, 71, who also runs the Gentle Giants line of organic dog food, added: “We were supposed to appear in Las Vegas in a few days. We had a whole tour set up through the end of the year!”

Actress Julie Newmar, 83, who played Catwoman, was also at the Hollywood event. “Adam looked wonderful, and was in high spirits!” she told The ENQUIRER. “I was shocked when I heard he died. I still can’t believe it.”
