New Jersey Man Wanted For Manslaughter Caught Entering US From Canada

A New Jersey man wanted for manslaughter was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection trying to re-enter the United States on a bus from Canada on Monday, authorities said.

CBP officers at the Port of Buffalo, Rainbow Bridge border crossing In New York on Monday encountered a commercial bus entering from Canada, and on board was 22-year-old U.S. citizen Malakai McRay. During examination, CBP officers found a. National Crime Information Center (NCIC) match showing McRay had a warrant for arrest.

After verifying McRay’s identification, CBP officers confirmed there was an active warrant for his arrest issued by the Essex County Prosecutors Office in New Jersey for negligent manslaughter with a weapon, a second-degree felony.

McRay was turned over to the New York State Police as a fugitive from justice, and is being held by the Niagara County Sheriffs Office as he awaits extradition to New Jersey.
