When I heard that the cast and crew of “Hot in Cleveland” play a sneaky game called “Make Betty Flinch” – suddenly leaping from behind doors and scenery to scare the hell out of 89-year-old star BETTY WHITE – I thought: “Cruel bastards!”…until I discovered that Betty actually invented the game!
Said a show source: “Betty’s quite the prankster – she’s always hiding behind things, then leaping out and screaming to scare the living crap out of us. And she gets us every time. So then we try to ‘Make Betty Flinch’ – but she’s unflappable. When VALERIE BERTINELLI, JANE LEEVES and other cast and crew members jump out to scare her, Betty doesn’t even flinch. She just keeps walking and says, ‘Better luck next time!’”
