NBC on Monday announced a “legendary addition” its NBA broadcast team next season — Michael Jordan.

At the NBCU Upfront presentation, John Tesh performed “Roundball Rock,” the iconic jingle he composed for NBC’s NBA coverage back in 1990, before a video announcement named Jordan, 62, to their team beginning this fall.

The NBA Hall of Famer won six NBA Championships with the Chicago Bulls during the team’s legendary run in the 1990s, and won two Olympic gold medals with the U.S. National Team, first in 1984 then again in Barcelona in 1992, when the team earned the nickname The Dream Team after including professional NBA players for the first time.

The two-time Slam Dunk Contest Champion earned the nickname Air Jordan, which became the name of an iconic Nike sneaker line that remains popular today.

The video announcing Jordan’s new gig including highlight clips from throughout his basketball career, which is widely considered to be the greatest of all time.

“A legendary addition to our team,” NBC wrote in the post on X alongside the video. “Were thrilled to welcome Michael Jordan as a special contributor to the NBA on NBC and Peacock.”

It will be Jordan’s first foray into basketball commentary, despite remaining connected to the league with an ownership stake in the Charlotte Hornets.
