A Massachusetts man is facing charges for allegedly secretly filming a teenage girl in a Target dressing room, police said.

The Swansea Police Department said officers responded at around 8 p.m. Monday to a Target store at 579 Grand Army of the Republic Highway following a report that a 17-year-old girl was filmed in the dressing room. They learned a man had used his cell phone to film the girl, who was nude while changing clothes in the dressing room.

Police on Wednesday morning released surveillance images of the suspect and his vehicle, seeking assistance from the public to identify him. Detectives Jonathan Furtado and Charles Rowland and Officer Scott Stavens used tips from the public to identify the suspect as 25-year-old John Michael Williams

On Thursday morning, police said Williams was arrested Wednesday night at a residence in Swansea, and his cell phone was seized as evidence.

Williams is charged with photographing sexual or intimate parts of a child, possession of child pornography and disorderly conduct.

“This kind of invasive and disturbing behavior has no place in our community,” Swansea Police Chief Mark Foley said. “We take incidents like this very seriously and will always work to protect the most vulnerable members of our community. Im proud of the swift and diligent work of our Detectives, Furtado and Rowland, and Officer Stavens. They acted quickly and conducted a thorough investigation that resulted in the identification and arrest of the suspect.”
