WINONA RYDER SENTENCED

Winona Ryder, convicted last month of felony grand theft and vandalism for shoplifting more than $5,000 of merchandise from a Beverly Hills Saks Fifth Avenue, has been sentenced to probation and community service.

Superior Court Judge Elden Fox presided over the case, and ordered Ryder to pay $10,000 in fines and restitution, perform 480 hours of community service, and she must participate in a court-approved drug and psychological counseling program.

“It is not my intention to make an example out of you,” Judge Fox told Ryder, adding that she had disappointed many people and that she should “confront certain issues” that led to her behavior.

“If you steal again, you will go to jail. Understand that?”

Winona’s response — and the only thing she said at all during the trial was:

“Yes, Your Honor, I do.”

Ryder’s probation is to last for 3 years.
