TINA TURNER HIGHWAY UNVEILED

description

Tina Turner’s hometown of Nutbush, Tennessee will hold a ceremony this weekend, announcing the renaming of a stretch of State Highway 19 to Tina Turner Highway.

Turner was a resident of Nutbush until she was 17, and even wrote a song about the town called “Nutbush City Limits.”

Although Turner will not be in attendance — she no longer has any ties to the city — fans are expected to show up by the dozens to view Turner’s childhood home and to take a tour of her old alma mater, Carver High School.

“She’s been a positive inspiration for a lot of women and for people who were in poverty,” said Sharon Norris, event organizer and distant Turner relative.
