SPIN CITY STAR HOSPITALIZED, WON’T FINISH SEASON

Probably best-known for his role as Cameron in 1986’s Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Spin City star Alan Ruck is currently in a New York hospital.

Ruck, who has played Stuart Bondek on the sitcom since its debut in 1996, checked himself into the hospital on Christmas Eve. He contracted a strep infection that led to kidney failure, but “is expected to make a full recovery after a lengthy rehabilitation period,” according to a statement from ABC.

In the statement from ABC, producer Gary David Goldberg said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with Alan, his wife Claudia, and the Ruck family during this time of recovery for Alan. Alan has been an important member of the ABC family for many years. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to his return to Spin City.”

Castmate Charlie Sheen also expressed his concern for Ruck at the Golden Globe Awards last week. When Sheen accepted his award for Best Actor, he gave a shout-out to his friend, saying “Oh, and Alan Ruck, this one is for you.”

Ruck is scheduled to come back to work as soon as his health allows, but it has been described as “unlikely” that he will return before the season wraps up taping in March.
