description

Legendary comic actor Rodney Dangerfield was removed from a respirator recently after undergoing brain surgery, and his first request to doctors was to turn on the TV and tune it to the Jerry Springer Show, according to his publicist.

“His spirits are great. He is lucid and communicative … and grinning from ear to ear,” said publicicst Kevin Sasaki.

The 81-year-old comic had the surgery to improve blood flow to his brain as a prelude to another surgery – this one to replace a heart valve. The second surgery is scheduled for next week.

Sasaki added that doctors expect to move Dangerfield from the intensive care unit to a private room by the end of the week, and that he has received many get well wishes from fans, as well as fellow funnymen Jay Leno and Jim Carrey.
