ROBERT BLAKE’S WIFE DEAD FROM GUNSHOT

The wife of Robert Blake, star of the 1970’s television series “Baretta,” died on Friday, May 5, from a gunshot wound to the head.

Bonny Lee Bakley, 45, was sitting in a car near an Italian restaurant in Studio City, waiting for Blake to return from the restaurant, where he left his handgun. According to attorney Harland Braun, Blake was carrying the gun because his wife feared for her life, although it was unclear who or what she was afraid of.

“Murder is usually a highly motivated thing, but here we have a woman we don’t know a lot about,” said Braun. “Someone took that opportunity to kill her when Robert left the car. She was very vulnerable.”

Police will not comment on the investigation at this time, however, Blake is not considered a suspect.
