‘Escape Artist’ Kangaroo Irwin Wrangled By Police For The Second Time

A Colorado kangaroo named Irwin proved himself to be “Durangos most unexpected escape artist” after police had to wrangle him for the second time in his young life.

The Durango Police Department thought Irwin had “hopped off as a legend” when he was spotted hopping around town again on Monday.

“Naturally, our officers responded to the call (again), safely wrangled him (again), and made sure he was in good hands — because public safety, even with paws and a pouch, is still public safety,” police wrote on social media alongside a video of officers chasing the marsupial.

“Applause to Ofc. Garrison who flexed and showed us who could lift the not-so-little guy (who definitely grew since our last encounter),” police said.

Last fall, Irwin was still a young roo when he escaped for a jaunt around town. Back then, officers were able to capture him by letting him hop into a bag that resembled a mother kangaroo’s pouch.

“Thanks to our team for responding with care, patience, and a good sense of humor,” police said. “To our four-legged friend: youve officially earned the title of Durangos Most Unexpected Repeat Offender.”
