VAL KILMER HITS KID WITH HIS CAR

Val Kilmer had a near miss with tragedy when he drove his car into a boy on a bike.

Bicyclist David Taylor, 12, walked away with only scrapes and bruises, but police had to track down the “Batman” star to get his side of the story, officers said.

“It was an unfortunate incident — but fortunately, it was not a tragic event,”

Tisbury, Mass., Police Chief Ted Saulnier told The ENQUIRER.

The accident occurred July 10 when Kilmer — in Massachusetts to film the political thriller “Spartan” — went to visit “Becker” star Ted Danson and his wife Mary Steenburgen in Tisbury, on the island of Martha’s Vineyard.

Kilmer was backing his rented Suzuki out of the lot when he struck the boy.

“Mr. Kilmer did what state law requires,” Chief Saulnier told The ENQUIRER. “He gave his information — his phone number — to the boy’s parents at the scene.

“He then had seven days to report it to police.”

The day after the accident, the boy complained of a stiff neck, and his mother Paulette took him to a hospital, according to Tisbury police. A day later, the Taylors filed a police report.

Police tracked down Kilmer at a Tisbury restaurant. The actor’s account of the mishap jibed with the Taylors’ version, and no charges were filed.

“Everything was done properly,” Chief Saulnier said. “The case is closed.”
