Both DAVID DUCHOVNY and GILLIAN ANDERSON to return to the roles that made them famous, FBI Agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder, as The X-Files returns to TV, The ENQUIRER has learned.
While the internet was rife with rumors about the classic conspiracy show returning after a more than decade absence it was unclear whether it would be with a new cast or with David and Gillian back.
The Hollywood Reporter today confirmed that both David and Gillian would reprise arguably “their greatest roles” in a limited six-part Fox series with production staring later this summer.
“I think of it as a 13 –year commercial break,” series creator Chris Carter enthused.
The series first debuted in 1993 and was the highest rated show on Fox during its fifth and sixth season.
The X-Files also spawned two feature films and a still-growing fan base of “believers” who remain firmly convinced that “The Truth is Out There”.
