Wendy Williams took to Instagram Thursday evening to apologize for what she described as a show that was “less than stellar” before admitting that a fractured arm and the pain meds she’s treating it with knocked her off her game!
Fans and insiders have been alerting The National ENQUIRER to the talk-show queen’s erratic behavior for weeks, including slurred speech, onstage tumbles and sudden unexpected cancellations.
Her lengthy post directly addressed a subpar segment on Thursday’s program in which viewers witnessed her slurring words during her “hot topics” section, according to RadarOnline.com, which led to Wendy’s producers to shift plans and run several pre-taped clips.
“I sincerely apologize if you feel that today’s show was less than stellar,” Williams told her followers. “As I reported earlier in the week, I have a hairline fracture on my upper arm, which hurts like hell.” Williams explained that this is the first time she’d broken a bone, and that it hurt like hell!
“I’ve never taken a pain medication in my life (except when I got snatched over 20 years ago) until this week,” she continued, suggesting if not specifically stating that drugs were to blame for her speech issues and erratic behavior.
“I did that to power through and try to deliver a great show for you, against the better judgement of the many people around me who genuinely care for my well-being,” she continued. “I really do ride or die for my craft and give 200%.”
As RadarOnline previously reported, the show host’s scary downward spiral isn’t a new development. Since an onstage collapse on Halloween 2017, her sometimes strange has worried even close friends.
Friends and business associates “have been concerned about her in recent weeks,” an insider told Radar. “She can barely stand at times, and has totally checked out. It’s a major problem.” One that Wendy, based on her Instagram post, will be working on.
“I appreciate everyone’s genuine concern for my wellness,” Williams wrote. “I promise you a better Wendy in 2019. I will get some much needed rest and healing over these next couple of weeks…. Sorry again. I love you all. Happy Holidays!”
