Beloved Valerie Harper is living on borrowed time!

That’s the shocking claim of pals of the Rhoda star, who has miraculously fought off a fatal diagnosis for a decade: “It’s day by day and it’s all about keeping an eye on her!”

Insiders said Valerie’s cancer medication has exhausted her and left her barely able to get out of bed.

“It wears her out and has hit her hard,” an insider said. “She’s also lost weight and it’s scaring her husband, Tony Cacciotti, because even five pounds off her petite frame is a lot!”

After surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from her lungs in 2009, the actress thought she was in the clear.

But four years later, doctors found she had leptomeningeal carcinomatosis — a rare, incurable condition in which the cancer spreads to the linings of the brain and spinal cord — and she was given a mere three months to live.

Incredibly, she has beaten the odds with alternative treatments and an experimental drug that her physician, Dr. Jeremy Rudnick, reported had put her in near total remission.

But sources said 79-year-old Valerie, who did not respond to a request for comment, is declining again.

“When she started taking medication years ago it didn’t fix her, it just kept the cancer at bay,” added a source.

Even Valerie has admitted her outlook is grave, saying: “I’m ready to go.”
