"They flew the plane in, but we caused it," the aging crooner, 85, told Stern on his Sirius Radio show last night.

"Because we were bombing them and they told us to stop."

ABC News reported that Tony’s controversial answer came after Stern asked the WW II vet how the United States should deal with the terrorists who for toppled the World Trade Center, forver searing 9/11 into the nation’s consciousness.
"But who are the terrorists?" Bennett said.

"Are we the terrorists or are they the terrorists? Two wrongs don't make a right."

Tony had been ballyhooing his new LP "Duets II" when he ignited the conflagration of controversy.
