Tom Selleck is shunning CBS’ attempts to bring him onboard the new “Magnum P.I.” reboot.

The new show stars 40-year-old Jay Hernandez as the ex-Navy SEAL turned Hawaiian private eye — and Selleck, 73, who originated the role, was offered a producer slot and a cameo role.

“I told them that I won’t do some cameo guest spot to let the audience know I approve,” said Tom.

“I’m sure they’d like it, but I have an obligation to my version.”

Meanwhile, there are other big changes as the reboot gets ready to premiere on Sept. 24.

The character of Jonathan Higgins, played by the late John Hillerman, will now be a gal played by Perdita Weeks.

Tom says he can’t complain however, and even gives CBS credit for reaching out to him while the reboot was first getting started.

The network even offered to shut down the idea if he “had a problem” with the idea.

Instead, says Tom, he decided “this seemed okay, because it’s probably going to happen sooner or later.”
