Brave Patrick Swayze succumbs after long battle to cancer.

Patrick’s publicist confirmed the Dirty Dancing star’s death at home in Los Angeles at age 57.

"Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months," his publicist Annett Wolf said in a statement released Monday evening.  No other details were given.

Last week The ENQUIRER reported exclusively Patrick had gone home to spend his remaining few days with wife Lisa Niemi at their beloved Rancho Bizarro before the final curtain. Swayze was married since 1975 to Niemi, a fellow dancer who took lessons with Patrick’s mother, a choreographer; they met when he was 19 and she was 15.

A licensed pilot, Niemi flew her husband from Los Angeles to Northern California for treatment at Stanford University Medical Center.

The Ghost star was first diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January 2008 and had been named People‘s Sexiest Man Alive in 1991.

Despite his rep for being a romantic leading man Swayze also kicked some serious ass in action flicks like Red Dawn (Wolverines!), Road House and Point Break.
