“Star Wars” hero Alden Ehrenreich has been harboring a dark family tragedy — as a young child, the future Han Solo witnessed his uncle savagely slaughter his father!
The 28-year-old actor — who took over for Harrison Ford as space pirate Han Solo in “Solo: A Star Wars Story” — was only eight years old when he went with dad Mark to pick up his mentally ill uncle, Edward Ehrenreich.
The holiday lunch in December 1997 took a horrific turn, though.
“Edward was waiting for him with a kitchen knife,” recalled Alden’s uncle Nicholas Benedict.
“The devil told him to kill Mark. He was having hallucinations.”
After the attack, Mark drove to a nearby gas station for help, but eventually succumbed to his injuries and died while receiving hospital treatment. He was only 43 years old.
“Edward had schizophrenia and didn’t take his meds, then killed his brother,” said Nicholas, who was married to Mark and Edward’s sister, Ava.
Edward was committed to a mental health facility and died in 2005.
