Bubbly blonde Emmy winner Julie – who plays housewife Claire Dunphy on the hit ABC series – has looked rail-thin after going on a sweet-free diet while maintaining her daily 45-minute runs, insiders say.
Now Sofia, 39, is urging Julie, 42, to follow in her footsteps and embrace her curves rather than try to lose them!
“Sofia is desperately worried about Julie,” a close source divulged.
“She’s told Julie that as gorgeous as she is now, she’ll look even sexier if she puts some extra flesh on her bones!”
Colombian-born Sofia – who plays Gloria, the trophy wife of Ed O’Neill’s character on the Emmy-winning sitcom – is celebrated for her curves, and she wants Julie to be the same, the source added.
“It pains Sofia to see Julie falling into the trap of becoming another Hollywood stick figure,” the source said.
At the recent Emmy Awards, the plunging neckline of Julie’s beaded Oscar de la Renta gown emphasized her gaunt figure, and insiders estimated she’d lost 15 pounds in the previous few weeks.
But Julie, who’s had a pacemaker since her 20s due to a heart problem, has played down her weight loss.
“I’m built like a 14-year-old boy,” the married mother of three boys said in a recent interview. “I have no waist, so anything I wear has to have a lot of ‘trickeration’ going on.”
But that hasn’t stopped Sofia from being concerned.
“Sofia has been talking to fellow cast members about staging an intervention,” added another source.
“She loves Julie like a sister, and she feels it’s her duty to help.”
