Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid real-life game of manly one-upmanship.
Although both Paul Newman and Robert Redford were pals off camera they took delight in playing bizarro jokes on one another.
"Paul drove me crazy talking about racing all of the time," Redford revealed. "It just bored me to tears.
"So I went to a junkyard and said, ‘Do you have a destroyed sports car and can you wrap it up, put a ribbon around it and leave it at Newman’s house?" which he did.
A few weeks later Newman struck back!
Redford returned home to find a ginormous carton by his door containing the former wreck that Newman had compressed into a massive cube.
He quickly had an artist turn the chrome into a modern "art" garden sculpture which he promptly dumped in Newman’s Connecticut yard.
"It was really awful," Redford recalled with a twinkle in his eye.
