The husband of QUEEN ELIZABETH, PRINCE PHILLIPS rushed to the hospital with chest pains, putting Windsor Yuletide celebrations in jeopardy!

Buckingham Palace confirmed that Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, was rushed from Sandringham, the queen's sprawling estate in rural Norfolk, to the cardiac unit at Papworth Hospital in Cambridge for "precautionary tests."

As a security measure, hospital officials have referred all queries to the palace.

Philip, who is 90 years old, was at Sandringham for the royal family's Christmas festivities along with his son Prince Charles and his sons by the late Princess Diana, Prince William and Prince Harry.

UPDATED: 719 PM 12.23.11 Prince Phillip has undergone surgery for a blocked coronary artery, British royal officials said late Friday.

The palace said hospital tests showed a blocked coronary artery was causing Philip's discomfort.

"This was treated successfully by the minimally invasive procedure of coronary stenting," the palace said. "Prince Philip will remain in hospital under observation for a short period."

The Royals were to celebrate a traditional Christmas this weekend, followed by a year's worth of festivities to mark the queen's 60th year on the throne.

Now, a grim pall hangs heavy over those that wear the crown.
