What’s old is new yet again as THE ROCKFORD FILES gets a reboot sans JAMES GARNER.

Despite the recent spate of old TV shows getting remakes on TV, The Rockford Files is heading to the big-screen.

The film will star Vince Vaughn as Jim Rockford.

The creator of HBO's upcoming Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson “True Detective” series, Nic Pizzolatto has been brought on board to write the movie, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Rockford aired from 1974 to 1980 on NBC with Garner as feisty disheveled P.I. who’d rather talk his way out of trouble than engage in gun crazy action

It is highly unlikely that James Garner will make an appearance in the new film.

As The ENQUIRER previously reported the Maverick legend, now 85 years old, is said to be in poor health after a series of strokes.
