The moment everyone has been waiting for is finally here. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced the name of their newborn baby son… and it’s Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Not as regal as we expected.
The duo took to Instagram to share a photo of themselves and Archie with Meg’s mom, Doria Ragland, as well as Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pleased to announce they have named their first born child:
Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor
This afternoon Their Royal Highnesses introduced Her Majesty The Queen to her eighth great-grandchild at Windsor Castle. The Duke of Edinburgh and The Duchess’ mother were also present for this special occasion,” the caption read.
Archie is seventh in line to the throne.
At this time, it’s unclear if Archie is just a nickname, or if it’s their son’s actual name. The name also allegedly has English origin and means “genuine and bold.” The middle name, Harrison, is a nod to his dad, as it means “son of Harry.”
