Paula Abdul’s father, Harry Abdul, has died at home after his fight against Alzheimer’s disease. RadarOnline.com was first to report the news.
The performer confirmed her beloved 85-year-old dad’s death on Twitter. “Everyone loved my father. He had a heart of gold and carried his heart on his sleeve wherever he went, and shared it with everyone he came in contact with,” she shared on Wednesday, April 17, along with a sweet video of the two together in which she declares her love for him. “Isn’t it a beautiful gift that I still feel his spirit with me?”

She followed that tweet with another featuring photos of the two of them together. “My Father was, and always will be, my superhero,” she wrote. “Thank you ALL for the heartfelt condolences. Your love and support is comforting me during this difficult time.”
Harry’s death comes one year after the former “American Idol” judge’s mom died. She was also 85.
“First, Paula’s mom dies, and now her dad is gone,” a friend of the star told Radar. “It’s like an emotional one-two punch.”
