LEGENDARY actress Carolyn Jones attempted suicide while married to film and TV producer Aaron Spelling, a bombshell new book claims.
It is just one shocking revelation of Old Hollywood divulged in Candy Spelling’s memoir, “Candy at Last.”
Aaron was married to Carolyn for 12 years, and the book paints a bleak picture of the union. The duo met in 1953, when they were both struggling to make ends meet.
They got married and were rising stars – but it wasn’t all glitz and glamour, according to Candy.
“He (Aaron) came home every evening to find his wife intoxicated. The smell of alcohol filled their home,” the mother of TV reality star Tori Spelling explained.
Fame wasn’t motivation enough for Carolyn to cut down on the boozing, and Aaron wasn’t going to abandon his blooming actress bride.
However, everyone has their limits.
Although Aaron and Carolyn loved to entertain, “it was what went on in the house when nobody was around that was so difficult,” she said.
“The straw that broke the camel’s back came 12 years into the marriage when Carolyn tried to shoot herself in the bathtub at their house on Beverly Drive.”
This time Aaron stood his ground and finally ended the marriage, but he didn’t cut her off completely.
In fact, he helped her land the role of Morticia in “The Addams Family.”
