Six years after The National ENQUIRER helped REGIS PHILBIN reconcile with his troubled son, Danny Philbin tragically died from natural causes at age 49.
“He was a hero to all of us,” a friend said of Danny’s Nov. 7 passing.
Danny was born to Regis and first wife Catherine with a spinal cord defect that led to the amputation of his legs.
He’d go on to earn top college degrees while working in public affairs.
But Danny had a strained relationship with his famous dad.
His then-wife appealed to Regis for help through The ENQUIRER in 2008 – with the couple borrowing money to buy groceries.
Regis quickly provided his son with some financial relief, assuring The ENQUIRER: “Yes, he’s all set.”
More important, Regis was in regular contact with Danny in his son’s final years – and a family friend confirmed to The ENQUIRER that Regis attended Danny’s funeral.
