MICHAEL MOORE DIVORCE COVER-UP

MICHAEL MOORE is giving his estranged wife Kathleen Glynn millions of dollars in their divorce to buy her silence.

The famed documentary filmmaker – who attacks money-grubbing corporations and presents himself as a man of the people – desperately wants to avoid a messy divorce that would spotlight his fabulous riches and luxury lifestyle, a source says.

“The last thing Michael wants to do is go through a long battle that would force him to produce documents that spell out the details of his enormous wealth,” declared an insider.

The Oscar winning producer/director of “Roger & Me,” “Bowling for Columbine” and “Sicko” filed for divorce from his wife of 21 years on June 17.

Readily recognizable, the 59-year-old political activist sports long hair and wears a signature ball cap. He has created headlines criticizing wealthy conservatives for being “greedy capitalists” who don’t care about the other 99 percent of working Americans.

But an insider says he doesn’t want anyone to know that he is a 1-percenter himself. He reportedly has a staggering net worth of some $50 million, lives in a 10,000-square-foot waterfront mansion in Michigan with its own boat dock – and has another pricey home in Manhattan.

“Michael has denied he is in the top 1 percent of wealthiest Americans, but the truth is he is one of the very rich – the people he loves to hate,” said the source.

“And that’s why he’s planning on paying at least half of his fortune – and maybe even more – to his wife so the private details of his lavish wealth will never be spelled out in their divorce documents.

“There are two Michael Moores. Most of us see the boots-on-the-ground community organizer. But then there is the one who, after a long day of protesting, retires back to his mansion or to his high-rise apartment in New York to live among the very corporate executives he attacks.”

Michael’s Michigan home has an estimated value of $1.2 million – with Madonna and Bruce Willis as neighbors. His New York pad is estimated to be worth several million dollars.

It is doubtful the public will learn much more about his lifestyle. The divorce complaint states the couple does not have minor children together and neither is seeking a spousal allowance or monthly maintenance.

“Michael knows if Kathleen wanted to get nasty she could force him to account for every dime of their wealth,” said the source. “He wants to make this one of the friendliest divorces ever.”
